Fiebing's Leather Dye. An alcohol based dye used to change color of leather or restore color to worn leather. It is used in a similar way to how wood stain is used. It is a thin liquid that penetrates the surface, so it dyes not only the surface but the fibers of the leather too. Results vary on how soft the leather is and how open the surface is to allow the dye to penetrate. Very natural leathers tend to work best with this dye. More closed surface or hard finished leathers need to be prepared with Fiebing's Deglazing fluid before dyeing.
Fiebing's leather dye is pretty simple to use. Here are the steps:
  1. Clean and prepare the surface.
  2. Use a wool dauber to brush the leather dye into the leather. Use circular motions to make color uniform. One wool dauber is included with every 4 oz. jar of dye.
  3. When dry, use a cloth to buff off any excess surface dye.
  4. Finish with a coat of wax polish in the finished color
